Why choose YarnArt Cloud?
  • Multicolor Wool Blend: YarnArt Cloud blends 75% acrylic with 25% wool in short-repeat multicolor prints, 230 m per 100 g ball. The label rates it Medium (4) at 18 stitches per 10 cm on 4.5 mm needles.
  • Soft, Warm, Not Itchy: Makers describe Cloud as soft, warm and pleasant to work with, without the prickle of pure wool. The print changes color in short runs, so plain stockinette or garter already looks speckled.
  • Sweaters, Hats, Blankets: Cloud suits sweaters, hats, scarves and cozy blankets that need regular washing: it machine washes on a 40 °C wool cycle and should dry flat.
Description

YarnArt Cloud – Lofty and Squishy Wool Blend

YarnArt Cloud truly lives up to its name. This isn't just a standard yarn; it’s a tactile experience. Designed with a "lofty" structure, the strand feels airy and squishy, almost like it's infused with air. This unique construction allows you to knit warm, substantial garments that feel surprisingly lightweight on the body, avoiding that heavy, draped-down feeling of traditional dense wools.

💡 Comparison: If you are looking for a similar blend but with a tighter twist and finer gauge, check out YarnArt Vista. Choose Cloud when you want that extra fluffiness and volume.

What makes this yarn interesting?

  • Airy Volume: The yarn is spun loosely to maintain volume without weight. This means your sweaters will look cozy and chunky but feel light as a feather.
  • Sensory Softness: The blend of 25% Wool and 75% Acrylic is engineered for softness. It eliminates the "itch factor" completely, creating a velvety finish that is safe to wear directly against the skin.
  • Vibrant Texture: Because of its fuzzier surface, stitches blend beautifully, giving a cohesive, almost felted look to simple stockinette, while cables pop with a soft, rounded definition.

TIPS & TRICKS

Pro Tip: Short-repeat prints can pool into blotches across wide pieces. On sweater fronts and backs, alternate two balls every two rows to keep the colors scattered. For crochet, the label suggests a 5 mm hook at about 14 stitches per 10 cm.

Beautiful wool, very reasonably priced. Postage to France is abit expensive but it evens out due to the lower prices of the wool. Can’t wait to start knitting !

About Product

How many balls of YarnArt Cloud for a sweater?

Plan on 4–6 balls for an adult medium pullover. A worsted-weight sweater typically uses 900–1,300 m, and each 100 g ball of Cloud holds 230 m (1,100 ÷ 230 ≈ 4.8). Larger sizes, long cardigans and roll necks need more, so check your pattern's total metres and buy the full amount from one dye lot.

Is YarnArt Cloud good for blankets?

Yes. Cloud's airy, lofty strand gives a thick blanket that stays relatively light. A throw of about 120 × 150 cm in worsted weight typically needs 1,900–2,600 m, which is 9–12 balls at 230 m each. A baby blanket of 75 × 90 cm needs roughly 700–1,000 m, so 3–5 balls.

YarnArt Cloud vs YarnArt Vista – which should I pick?

Choose Cloud for volume and softness, and YarnArt Vista for crisper stitches and a finer fabric. Both are 75% acrylic, 25% wool, but Cloud is a lofty worsted at 230 m per 100 g on 4.5 mm needles, while Vista is a more tightly twisted DK at 280 m per 100 g on 4 mm.

Can YarnArt Cloud be felted?

No. Felting needs a high share of untreated animal fibre, and Cloud is 75% acrylic with only 25% wool, so it won't felt properly in a hot wash. For felted slippers or bags, choose a pure, non-superwash wool. The upside is far less felting risk in the wash than with pure wool, but still follow the ball band's temperature.
